The whole UFO shebang is out of sync with the UAP madness that is running rampant in the public arena.

The Anomalist, which was once a paragon of UFO items that resonated with its followers is now saturated by Bill Murphy's linkage to UFO people and things that don't really matter: Look at the title of this posting.

Murphy, with the apathetic consent of Anomalist founder, Patrick Huyghe, keeps linking persons and things that are totally irrelevant in the UAP scheme of things: Jeff Kripal's inane philosophical musings, John Greenewald's often futile FOIA efforts, promoting archiving UFO stuff from days past (with AI able to pull historical articles and items in a flash), and names of UFO has-beens that the rest of us have ignored for months or even years now.

The UFO/UAP contingent is flush with creators and newbies, dumb as some are, who spark interest in what is really the substance of the flying saucer phenomenon in 2024.

Like Nick Redfern or Paul Kimball or Curt Collins -- the names are numerous -- who have "died" in the public mind, Murphy et al. keep trotting out material that is irrelevant and mouldy.

Three UFO/UAP groups someone put me in charge of, on Facebook, along with my encouragement or some really nifty paranornal-interest creators via YouTube, indicate the way forward for UFO matters,.

Murphy and his sycophantic attention to the UFO dead can be ignored; it's a waste of time and effort for lingering readers of the almost daily online itemizing.

Patrick (as well as Greenewald on X) shows that the UFO mothership is a concoction, and for Elizondo not to know that offers inisight into Elizondo's credibility -- about  other things.

The answer: Not Very Well. Rutkowski does delineate what measures "are useful in helping to better understand the phenomena," within their own limitations. (Dr. Hynek's passage in the 2nd column of p.377, "...a highly subjective matter. UNCLEAR We start degree, given the circumstances..." should read "...a highly subjective matter. We start with the assessed credibility of the individuals concerned in the report, and we estimate to what degree, given the circumstances...") Bearing in mind Chris Rutkowski's admonitions, let's make our own evaluations of Tim Binnall's Study Determines Top US Cities for UFO Sightings. But, data and their statistics aside, it's the individual personal accounts that have Thom Nickels asking about UFOs -- Fact or Fiction? Specific sightings/encounters, their aftereffects on the witnesses, and theories as to cause make this more than just a question of numbers and mathematical formulas. UFOs have moved into a reality category for enthusiasts and most of the public, but Murphy and others (as pointed out at the Facebook group I administer) are wallowing in material and efforts by long-time, no-longer relevant UFO geezers who are stuck in an outdated UFO era.

No one cares what Rutkowski or Binnall has to say or write; they are out of the UAP loop. And Murphy plus The Anomalist also, sadly.

The two consider the speakers and their presentations, which weren't limited to the celebration's iconic case. Ryan and Martin enlarge their conversation to those pivotal December 2017 New York Times and Politico revelations, and what's happened in UFO discourse since then. Returning to the Expo presentations, Shag Harbour investigator Chris Styles' talk separated that 1967 event from another dramatic (this one quite scary) case, but from 1960, that's traditionally been conflated with Shag Harbour. New documentaries also get mention. One key takeaway from this dialogue is how energized both ufologists Ryan and Martin are by the wonder of what they love and do. Graeme Rendall sketches an ill-known and tragic death eerily similar to that of Captain Thomas Mantell's, but eight years later, in 1956. Bill Miurphy and The Anomalist can't let go of older UFO accounts and reports that most UAP people have forgotten or think -- except for a few -- are dog-eared and irrelevant.

Murphy is not alone in swimming in fetid waters. Many old-timers just can't escape the drudge of dusty, mildewed UFO stories that are devoid of anything pertinent to what we know about UFOs [UAP] in 2024,

It's a lazy way to hang on to a mystery that portends profundity when and if examined in the context of 2024.

Odd but useful

 Someone (or something) gave me access to three Facebook groups (here, in red) -- with a total of 7,000 + active members -- I'm the Administrator.

Why? I do not know.

This is one of the videos and information that's underwriting the current 2027 "end of humanity" scenario permeating the UFO and UAP communities -- mostly the UAP partisans where the disclosure passion has become hysterical.

The fame seekers -- Elizondo, Bigelow, Sheehan, Nolan, Pasulka, Corbell, Knapp, various YouTubers, et al. -- are pressing the James Webb discovery, that infuses this video (with its redundant and hyper-cynical narrator) and UAP newbies are pissed that the fame seekers keep saying they and the U.S. government know about this pending humanity/Earth disaster (or extinction) but can't talk about it.

You'll feel the "creative end of world" nature of this video as you watch it.

With Congress back in session to vote on amendments to the 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) UFO-related provisions, the Ford Mellon interview naturally focuses somewhat more upon the legislative initiatives, along with recent UFO-military sensations. An observation

When I was in college (a Psychology major), we often went to a Detroit area hospital (Eloise -- now Wayne County General) that housed per- sons with severe psychological/mental conditions.

Our class assignments were to observe and note details that showed mental problems or lapses.

Today, I still use that training to help me discern persons in news media and now the UFO/UAP environment who appear stricken with mental conditions that are not normal.

A current Professor who is all over UAP social and news coverage is Garry Nolan.

While Professor Nolan appears articulate and highly intelligent, there are hints of psychopathology that are apparent to me (like that which often showed up in testing I did, way back when, for Detroit companies as part of their hiring practices).

I didn't include  Chris Lehto's YouTube link as I don't think Nolan should get the attention he's getting; his pronouncements are based in a mental subset that isn't quite normal as I see it and he borders on "psychopathic" behavior of a subtle but disturbing kind, in my opinion.

Paperwork Against Alien Invasion? Luis Elizondo on The Daily Show Daily Grail

Miguel ("Red Pill Junkie") Romero notes how Luis Elizondo got across his standard spiel on Ronny Chieng's The Daily Show on Tuesday night. RPJ also quite rightly points out that those UFO community members living in a "UFO bubble" might be surprised at Chieng's theatrical "normie" reaction. RPJ judges Elizondo et al.'s strategy absurd. However, we remember that almost nothing had advanced UFO respectability and dislodged some Government admissions (and legislation) until we heard from Elizondo, a former Senate Majority Leader's previous initiatives, and a Government Insider in late 2017 To Do Something About It. Pressure must be maintained upon and within Congress, lest Kevin Randle's justified fear of history repeating itself is confirmed. One of the more outré elements surfacing after the December 2017 revelations was AAWSAP's interest in a certain Ranch, the subject of Micah Hanks' podcast Skinwalker Ranch: Visit to A Notorious UAP Hotspot. A very effective narrative of an extremely unsettling 2009 experience three ex-military sensor experts had at then-Robert Bigelow's property sets the stage. Micah sketches the background history of the Ranch and Utah area on archaeological, palaeontological, and geological terms. His on-site Ranch tour leads him to a perhaps rather unexpected but ponderable conclusion about that experience. Unfortunately, the podcast's conclusion brings us back to the "normal" world as Micah defends himself and colleagues against journalistic malfeasance. (WM)

This recent "display" apparently caused quite a buzz in Tampa this week, as "Meredith" reported, for videos of the "UFO" went "super viral." Two days later, Meredith says it turns out the UFO Sighting Over Tampa Was Creative Marketing Campaign. Makes you wonder if there's a lucrative market somewhere in this universe for real ET craft appearances. After all, a Mexican Tire Shop Owner Filming UFO Turns Sighting into Impromptu Store Ad. That's per Tim Binnall, who reports this maybe saucer, popped into an impromptu commercial, got the owner six million views and counting! (WM)

The long-time UFO note-takers – Anomalist for instance – keeps “promoting” what I call the UFO geezers, those people who’ve played at Ufology for years to no purpose that clarified the phenomenon.

Curt Collins is not as old as some geezers but he operates as they do – continually harking back to old cases, offering nothing new.
 
I like old cases/reports too, but with humanity on the cusp of annihilation by non-humans or any number of other possible catastrophes, wallowing in the past seems mad to me, a nostalgic longing for a time when life was simpler and stupider.
 
Much old UFO crowd is tied emotionally to the past, offering nothing worthwhile towards the phenomenon that some of us take seriously, as a threat or a reality that isn’t good for humankind.

After a most frightening preamble about "a new relationship between humans and media," plus a scary/obscenity-decorated U.S. Army "Challenge Coin," Trevor Paglen begins to trace the application of perception alteration and information management as practiced by Richard Doty on Paul Bennewitz and others. It's a stark story, effectively told, as are Mark Pilkington and Greg Bishop's books on the subject, which Paglen references. Tanner F. Boyle has his own stark tale on another ufological matter, which he unfolds in his latest installment of Christopher Bledsoe and the UFO Cult of Intelligence, Pt. 6. Are Professor Diana Walsh Pasulka and others taking the place of Linda Moulton Howe et al. in this scenario, and Tim Taylor a latter-day Richard Doty? (WM)

Miguel ("Red Pill Junkie") Romero relays the terribly-sad news of the passing of one of the greatest dramatic actors, and in my opinion accurately states that James Earl Jones "deserved an Emmy" for his performance in the 1975 movie about the Barney and Betty Hill abduction and its sequelae. I also agree with RPJ's labeling that TV movie "the best cinematic portrayal of the UFO abduction phenomenon to this day." RPJ includes the complete movie itself in his article. A different media production aiming to impress gets Jason Colavito's unfavorable attention as Another Government UFO Hunter Signs a Major Book Deal. Jason covers the same Jay Stratton story we did on the 11th, but in his own inimitable (and who would want to?) style. (WM)

EXTERNAL AGENT: HOW ENCOUNTERS WITH UFOS COULD ALTER OUR PERCEPTION OF REALITY by José Caravaca

In my latest book, EXTERNAL AGENT, I delve deeper into my particular worldview regarding close encounters with UFOs, interpreting them through the lens of the Distortion Theory. For me, the testimonies of those who claim to have had direct interactions with these mysterious crafts—and in some cases, their alleged occupants—are crucial to unraveling the broader UFO phenomenon. What captivates me most about these accounts are the unsettling similarities they share with ancient folklore, which also recounts episodes of contact with beings and creatures that defy explanation. These historical parallels suggest that UFO sightings are not a new phenomenon, but rather a modern iteration of an ancient and ongoing interaction between humanity and the unknown. It's these recurring patterns that demand our attention.

In EXTERNAL AGENT, I propose that these visions might be the result of a complex psychic interaction between the observer and unknown elements of our reality. I explore how these encounters demonstrate a profound relationship between what is observed and the observer’s perception, suggesting that our minds may be translating these anomalous experiences into visual codes and behavioral patterns that are more familiar to us. This raises the question: Could it be that our understanding of these phenomena is too constrained by the narratives of extraterrestrial visitors, and that we need to expand our interpretation beyond the surface images we encounter?

I'm convinced that these Fortean and supernatural events have always existed throughout human history, but our attempts to comprehend them through a cognitive lens may distort the original "broadcast" into something entirely new. This distortion, in turn, gives rise to anomalous visions, shaped by cultural influence. One of the key points I highlight in this book is the aesthetic evolution of the UFO phenomenon over time. For instance, I examine how the technology reported in encounters from the 1950s through the 1980s appears outdated or even absurd when compared to contemporary human advancements. This discrepancy makes me question whether we are indeed witnessing visits from extraterrestrial beings, or if these are, in fact, parapsychic manifestations of a broader reality. It’s possible that this expanded reality borrows from our collective psyche, using familiar symbols and aesthetics to create a highly humanized experience.

In cases of the most intimate UFO encounters—those marked by extreme strangeness—it appears there is not only an interaction but an active immersion by the witnesses into a new, unfolding reality at the very moment of contact. Witnesses may unwittingly be co-creating these experiences, contributing their own subconscious thoughts, fears, and expectations into the fabric of what they are witnessing. This psychic architecture, as I term it, suggests that the reality of these encounters is far more dynamic and mutable than we traditionally assume. Some encounters may even be extrapolations of the witnesses' pre-existing beliefs or personal cognitive frameworks, further complicating our study of the phenomenon.

The field of UFO research faces significant challenges: inconsistent descriptions across sightings, strong cultural influences, and, most critically, the lack of concrete, verifiable evidence. If we take all accounts at face value, it would seem statistically implausible that we are being visited by such a vast array of UFOs and extraterrestrial beings. In one section of EXTERNAL AGENT, I compare these encounters to folkloric traditions, such as the "Santa Compaña" in Galicia. This mysterious funeral procession, which is believed to come from the beyond, appears only in a very specific cultural context. Why does this manifestation limit itself to a particular aesthetic, only in certain geographic locations? Could these phenomena be bound by cultural or geographic frameworks? This leads me to consider the possibility that these manifestations require a sort of "cultural transmission belt" to perpetuate their appearance in different regions.

The concept of the "external agent," which I introduce in the book, ties together ideas of expanded reality, intelligence, and information. I suggest that this external agent has the ability to manifest selectively to specific individuals at particular moments in time, subtly influencing how they interpret and understand their surroundings. Over the years, I’ve noticed that people who report encounters with UFOs or anomalous entities often experience personal transformations. These profound shifts in consciousness challenge the traditional frameworks of ufology, which tends to focus on the physical aspects and esthetic aspects of these encounters. Instead, I argue that the mental and psychological effects of these experiences are one of the most compelling aspects of the phenomenon.

In many ways, I liken the external agent to a kind of "universal Siri"—an unseen intelligence that interacts with our reality, perhaps even updating our collective psyche with new perspectives or insights. This agent may be providing us with psychological or existential "updates" that help us evolve our understanding of reality and ourselves. Ultimately, EXTERNAL AGENT encourages readers to reconsider the UFO phenomenon not as an invasion of extraterrestrial beings, but as an invitation to explore the deeper, more enigmatic layers of our own existence and consciousness. Through this expanded lens, we can begin to appreciate these encounters as more than just isolated incidents, but rather as ongoing dialogues between humanity and an unseen, yet profoundly impactful, external force.

The dearth and death of some UFO/UAP wannebes

Our pal José Antonio Caravaca offered, quite awhile back, his “Distortion Theory” that explained the mechanism(s) that UFO/UAP non-humans use to interact with humans.
 
I won’t recap José’s “theory” – it’s online, not complex, but better explained by him than others.
 
José, while offering a sensible account of the non-human modus operandi, he doesn’t, as far as I know, explain – nor has anybody – what the UFO/UAP non-humans are up to; that is, what are their intentions and ultimate purpose(s).
 
This significant information is lost on the UFO old guard, that is as defunct and non-relevant as any UFO savant-to-be has become. The UFO geezers are “dead meat” in the UAP scheme of things.
 
You know the names, even the faces: Jan Aldrich, Richard Hoffman (and his SCU cronies), Curt Collins, Gene Steinberg, David Clarke (a moody skeptic), and even some current persons in the UAP: spotlight: Ross Coulthart, George Knapp, Jeremy Corbell, Robert Bigelow, any Skinwalker Ranch promoter, the total Ancient Astronaut gang (and their History Channel abettors).
 
But, yes, the UFO podcasters, like Joe Rogan perhaps, and the YouTubers of merit, named elsewhere here – Jon Jakobs (Stories Lost), Mr. Black (Beyond Creepy), and Damon and Amy (Rope) plus The Observer ‘zine crew and, yes, Micah Hanks (with his Debrief cohorts), are currently pertinent, as is Albert Rosales (with his vast collection of humanoid encounters) plus Steve Meara (film-maker and periodicalist).
 
Jacques Vallee has become, since his Trinity book, an outlier from the UFO/flying saucer past, and whistle-blower David Grusch along with Luis Elizondo, despite his best-selling book Imminent, are already being swept into the dust bin of news media (and societal pertinence).
 
And finally, for now, I’ve dealt elsewhere with the Archive fanatics, Jan Aldrich, Isaac Koi and others who have spent and are spending their last days on Earth collecting UFO materials and flying saucer nonsense from the old days to now – Aldrich writing that it’s for historians!
 
This delusion that UFO/UAP enthusiasts will traipse to far off places to ferret out some half-ass report of a UFO sighting or event is madness.
 
With the rise of AI, every scrap of UFO/UAP detritus can be found with a click of one’s mobile device, computer, phone, tablet, watch, whatever – and the material will pop up, unencumbered by mold or dust or blurred inks and fingerprints, not to mention the coughs and crud of those in charge of the materials that some dolt had the temerity to gather.
 
This archive collection is a sop to UFOers who never made a name for themselves but hope to gain an iota of legacy via the dregs of ufology.
 
It’s not only madness but sadness too.

Lost Legacies and Dying UFO Long-timers

 
We have ingratiated ourselves with the sensible and erudite UFO/UAP offspring of the phenomenon: The Observer gang, Stories Lost's Jon Jakobs, Beyond Creepy's"Mr. Black" and The Rope's Damon and Amy.

The 'zine Observer crew are online and print-oriented, the others YouTubers of heft and quality videos.

They represent the best in the UFO/UAP oriented community.

(My pal Anthony Braglia is fixated on what he calls the "Porn" UFO crowd using YouTube to entertain visitors to their channels: VETTED's Patrick, Ben at Craigsight, and ChaosMoogle, three zippy UFO/UAP enthusiasts I find a little too loose and silly for the serious aspect of the long-time mystery. Tony has other favorites also.)

Here I'd like to note that favorites of mine and others in the UFO community have passed from pertinence or relevance when it comes to fast-evolving UFO and now UAP matter.

The old-timers can be found on Facebook where someone made me Adminstrator of two UFO groups, one with 4500 members and another with 1500 members. I don't know how I became involved but I plug the pages with new material daily and keep the riff-raff from posting sh*t.

On FB itself, one find the UFO old-guard and its remnants: Project 1947, UFO Updates, and other detritus from the flying saucer past.

The UFO archives trying to make their efforts worthwhile as AI takes over the lifting when it comes to finding old UFO material -- accounts and reports, magazine's, newsletters, people once notable, and all other flying saucer output of the past.

Just as those archive-dedicated persons are passé so too are the forlorn archives lying dormant in places where no (new) UFO/UAP person will tread.

And persons in the UAP news fairly recently are already passé themselves -- victims of Andy Warhol's dictum of "15 minutes of fame" -- Diana Pasulka, Garry Nolan, David Grusch, AARO's one-time head Sean Kirkpatrick, the Skinwalker ranch devotees, the Ancient Astronaut pastiche of non-edifying personnel, and the once important podcasters such as Gene Steinberg (that perpetual beggar of donations and funds to keep him personally aloft) and others who's listing of names here would be a waste of my typing.

I wanted specifically to note that my one-time Anomalist pals have fallen wayside, Bill Murphy regurgitating that UAPs errancy that he once eschewed and linking the very outdated and meaningless UFO personalities that no longer matter in the UAP scheme of things -- like "Red Pill Junkie" or Nigel Watson (who cares?) or the retirement of Magonia's John Rimmer. (These people "died" when UAP became the sobriquet for UFOs.)

Anomalist's Patrick Huyghe's name came up in a telephone conference I had with my UAP newbies last week, And the queries popped up, "Who?"

The old-timers and long-timers -- like prolific and popular author" Nick Redfern -- are considered "dead" in the metaphorical sense, and many scheduled to actually die actuarially within the year.

Change has come to UFOs and this blog will continue to note and ballyhoo it.

After all, who else will set the record straight -- the UFO geezers, the UAP entertainers, the once lauded UFO hotshots, now muted by time and modernity?
