Ufological Chaos: A lack of discipline

chaos.jpg

The UFO community has totally lost it.

Almost everyone who considers himself or herself a ufologist or UFO aficionado is acting as if they are berserk.

The blogs, web-sites, articles (in some sympathetic newspapers and magazines), and conferences have proliferated to the point that the UFO mystery has become a hodge-podge of everything, including the kitchen sink.

Hypotheses, conjectures, regurgitated flying saucer stories (from all the way back to the cave-man era), and just plain nonsense have taken control of the UFO phenomenon so that any serious scrutiny of the enigma is virtually impossible.

This is symptomatic of schizophrenia, or something very much like it.

This has always been the bane of ufology: a discursive approach to the examinations and research into flying saucers and their modern counterpart, UFOs.

But today’s cacophony of noise has all but eliminated the signal, as they say.

The UFO material has been corrupted to the point that flying saucer sightings, events, and episodes are meaningless, as far as real researchers or analysts are concerned.

Sure, a small coterie of UFO nuts will continue to stoke the ufological fires but for those who think the phenomenon (or phenomena) may contain something worthwhile, even portentous, or profound, the accrued clutter is daunting.

Some of those creating the mess? Kal Korff (about to be skewered by Paul Kimball), BillyMeier, Regan Lee, Joseph Capp, Errol Bruce-Knapp, and even Stanton Friedman, among many, many more.

Again, it will take a UFO apocalypse to cleanse the debris and maniacs away.

Why did you have to name names? Why didn't you just leave it with... 'some people'?

You have a 'nut' about hurting people. Not just stating something about their work but actually hurting them emotionally with your words. How dare you.

This isn't Yahoo News and they're not Brittany and Nick Bollea. This is a small community and absolutely not a place for such things.

You didn't have to name names.

Some can take it but some cannot and besides, why do it anyway. What you did was tremendously wrong and this leads me to think that maybe you have some kind of psychiatric disorder going on in that head of yours in order to be able to hurt someone like that. Especially when they come to the realization that others will read it - people they know, and people who just know them from seeing their blogs, etc.

You're just a down right mean and ugly individual on the inside.

Take a look at that before you consider naming names.

None of their names should have been stated but what absolutely, positively blews my mind was that you included Joe Capp. Of all people! One of the very few in the ufo community who is so good natured and has a humongous heart. That is so rare anyway and you go and say what you did. He's tremendously considerate of others, always showing recognition where it's deserved and goes out of his way to defend those that have been harmed by the media, etc. because he knows the feeling and feels the need to put a band-aid on it on behalf of the one he's defending.

Joe is the epitome of what you're not.

There! Now I've said all of that about you so lets see if you post my comment like you posted yours.

I never said I was a Ufologist. Just a witness with a voice. I am sorry the internet has not lived up to your expectations. But what I see because of these bloggers is people looking up at the sky. People taking pictures and a grass root swelling of the people who see these things.
After all it is about what they see and report. No matter what science and even we do UFO craft will be there in the sky and if people look up they will see them. It's is always the people that change things I gave up on an honest hearing from science.
Pilots and regular people taking the time to say "Hey I am not" a nut that will change it. MUFON jumping on the gun quickly like in Stephenville that will help it also.
I have been holding my breath for 45 years waiting for science to do something about this reality. The week willed and kneed same scientist that took a decade to scream out on Global Warming can heartily ever be expected to address a experience documented by instruments video equipment and witnesses of the highest caliber, you need courage for that. You may call us names but we are no longer going to stand by while lies are spread by debunkers and witness are thrown under the public busses.
Yes I agree there have been some knuckle heads like Greer but there are many honest people out there looking for answers and we are not going to give up.

Anonymous (hmmm),

There comes a time when the wheat has to be separated from the chaff.

Joseph Capp is a good guy, just a bit too zealous for his and the UFO good.

Regan Lee is illiterate.

Kal Korff is a wacko.

Stanton Friedman is not helping the UFO cause, no matter what a few sappy UFO followers think.

Errol Bruce-Knapp has created more harm than good by his choice of persons to put forward, no matter how screwy or evil they are.

We're not here to be pussies.

We're here to cast aspersions when it seems necessary to do so.

Joseph,

You are not the target here.

We don't put you in the "nut" category but we do think you are too sympathetic to witnesses who have been proven to be less than forthright and honest.

Your blog is interesting, but marred for us by being a bit silly when it comes to listing all witnesses as good people who shouldn't be picked on.

Many should be purged, along with their not-helpful information and outright lies.

Max
